OPENS 2026 JOB FAIR: Deli Serdang Regent dr H Asri Ludin Tambunan opens the 2026 Job Fair, involving 30 companies at the Balairung of the Deli Serdang Regency Government, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government has once again held the 2026 Job Fair, involving 30 companies. The event is part of the local government's efforts to expand public access to employment opportunities while reducing the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Deli Serdang Regency.

Deli Serdang Regent dr H Asri Ludin Tambunan officially opened the second Job Fair, which was initiated by the Deli Serdang Regency Manpower Office. The event was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Balairung of the Deli Serdang Regency Government.

The Job Fair was organized as a follow-up to an evaluation of a similar event held previously. The first Job Fair involved 28 companies and recorded an employment placement rate of around 49 percent.

Asri Ludin said the result showed that there was still a gap between the educational backgrounds and skills of job seekers and the workforce requirements set by companies.

"The problem is that the educational qualifications and skills of job seekers do not yet match the needs of companies. We hope that more workers can be placed through the second Job Fair," Asri Ludin said during the opening of the event on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Balairung of the Deli Serdang Regency Government.

Aligning Skills with Industry Needs

According to Asri Ludin, the Regency Government needs to establish better alignment between education, workforce skills and business requirements. This step is important so that job seekers do not rely solely on their academic certificates but also possess skills that match the positions being offered.

The Deli Serdang Regency Government will also map the evolving demand for workers across various economic sectors, he said. The findings from the mapping could later serve as one of the foundations for residents in planning their education and developing their skills before entering the workforce.

These measures are also expected to help narrow the gap between job seekers and companies' workforce requirements. If the required skills are identified at an early stage, people can choose education or training programs that are better aligned with available employment opportunities.

Asri Ludin emphasized that the Job Fair is not merely a meeting point between job seekers and companies, but also provides an opportunity for people to directly learn about actual workforce needs. Through the event, residents can gain information about various occupations, requirements and skills sought by companies.

The Regency Government also urged job seekers to make the most of the opportunity. Those who have not yet secured employment should not stop trying, but instead use the selection process as a basis for personal evaluation and improving their skills.

Local Workers in Focus

At the 2026 Job Fair, the Deli Serdang Regency Government is placing particular emphasis on the local community. The employment opportunities are primarily intended for Deli Serdang residents who can prove their residency through a Deli Serdang KTP, the Indonesian identity card issued to residents of the regency.

Asri Ludin said the policy reflects the Regency Government's support for the local population, enabling residents to gain better access to employment opportunities available in their own region.

However, the government does not interfere in the selection processes conducted by individual companies. Each company retains the authority to select applicants according to its own requirements and the skills it needs.

"There is no favoritism and no behind-the-scenes arrangement. We provide equal opportunities for everyone. The companies make their decisions based on the qualifications they need," he emphasized.

The statement also underlines that recruitment through the Job Fair is carried out according to companies' needs and qualification requirements. Job seekers have equal opportunities to participate in the selection process as long as they meet the requirements established by each company.

Asri Ludin also reminded job seekers not to become discouraged if they have not yet found employment through the Job Fair. In his view, failure in a selection process can serve as a basis for evaluation to identify which skills still need to be improved.

Those who have not yet succeeded should also find out what competencies are required by companies. In this way, job seekers can better prepare themselves when they have another opportunity to participate in a recruitment process.

Three Job Fairs Planned for 2027

The Deli Serdang Regency Government hopes that the second Job Fair will increase the number of workers placed compared with the previous event. The participation of 30 companies also provides residents with more opportunities to find employment that matches their qualifications.

The event is also one of the Regency Government's measures to address unemployment. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) in 2025, Deli Serdang's Open Unemployment Rate stood at 7.69 percent.

This figure is among the factors considered by the Regency Government in formulating its employment policies. The government is not only seeking to expand access to employment opportunities through Job Fairs, but is also promoting improvements in human resource quality so that residents possess skills that meet the demands of the labor market.

Asri Ludin said the government would continue to open access to employment opportunities for the public. The continuation of such events is part of a strategy to connect job seekers with companies in need of workers.

"Access to employment opportunities will continue to be opened. We plan to hold the Job Fair three times in 2027," he said in closing.

The target underscores the Deli Serdang Regency Government's efforts to create more opportunities for interaction between job seekers and the business sector. By increasing the frequency of Job Fairs, residents are expected to have more options in their job search, while companies can find suitable workers according to their needs.

The Regency Government also hopes that residents will take advantage of every available opportunity and prepare themselves better. Relevant education, practical skills and appropriate competencies are important factors in helping job seekers meet the requirements established by companies.

Through cooperation among the government, business sector, educational institutions and the community, efforts to address unemployment in Deli Serdang are expected to continue sustainably. The Job Fair is one of the instruments for expanding access to employment opportunities while strengthening the connection between workforce demand and the readiness of job seekers. (IDNC)
