MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas has called for stronger institutional capacity across the city's three key public service units—Damkarmat (Fire and Rescue Service), Satpol PP (Public Order Agency), and Satlinmas (Civil Protection Unit)—while praising their dedication to delivering fast, professional, and community-oriented services.
The statement was delivered following a joint anniversary ceremony celebrating the three institutions: the 76th anniversary of
Satpol PP, the 107th anniversary of
Damkarmat, and the 64th anniversary of
Satlinmas. The event took place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Lapangan Benteng,
Medan.
Strengthening Professional and Human-Centered Services

"The most important thing is that these three institutions remain professional while acting with humanity. They must protect the public and stay close to the people," he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of continuous training programs for personnel from
Damkarmat,
Satpol PP, and
Satlinmas to enhance competence, responsiveness, and professionalism in the field.
Expanding Volunteer Networks and Community Response Systems

"These fire volunteers must continue to be developed and strengthened, as their role in emergency situations is very important," he said.
He also underlined that law enforcement efforts should always be paired with a polite and humane approach to maintain public trust.
Tactical Demonstrations Show Operational Readiness

Satpol PP showcased self-defense techniques and simulations related to the protection of public assets, while
Damkarmat demonstrated rapid and effective firefighting responses.
The mayor expressed admiration for the physical and mental readiness of personnel, as well as their coordination with law enforcement agencies in enforcing municipal regulations.
"We can see that our personnel are highly trained, including female officers demonstrating their skills. This reflects their readiness in all situations," he said.
He concluded the event by extending his congratulations to all three institutions.

"This year, the budget has been allocated. We will conduct specialized training for
Redkar volunteers," he said.
These volunteers are recruited from local communities and serve as first responders in providing early information during fire and rescue incidents.
