10 VILLAGE HEADS JOIN KDMK PROGRAM: Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan bids farewell to ten village heads who will participate in the second batch of the “Kepala Desa Masuk Kampus” (KDMK) program at Universitas Indonesia to strengthen leadership capacity and village administrative governance.

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan officially sent off ten village heads who will participate in the second batch of the "Kepala Desa Masuk Kampus" (KDMK) program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) in Jakarta. The program will take place from July 13 to 16, 2026.

The initiative, organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs through the Directorate General of Village Administration, represents an important step in strengthening the capacity of village-level government officials to address increasingly complex development challenges.

The farewell ceremony for the ten village heads was held on the sidelines of the "Berjemur" event (Bupati Berjumpa Rakyat – Regent Meets the People) at Sampali Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The KDMK program is part of the 2026 "Pemerintahan Desa Berdampak" (Impact-Oriented Village Governance) initiative. The program aims to improve village heads' leadership capabilities, strengthen village administrative governance, and provide an understanding of future-oriented and data-driven village development based on local potential.

Deli Serdang Receives Special Opportunity to Improve Village Governance Capacity

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan said the district should be grateful for being selected as one of three districts in North Sumatra to participate in the second batch of the KDMK program.

In addition to Deli Serdang, the districts of Humbang Hasundutan and Pakpak Bharat from North Sumatra are also participating in the program.

"This is a new program and is currently only in its second batch. Deli Serdang is fortunate to be able to send ten village heads to study at a prestigious university. I hope that after returning, they will bring back the knowledge they have gained to help develop and improve their villages," said Asri Ludin Tambunan.

According to him, the village heads should make the most of this opportunity to broaden their perspectives, enhance their competencies, and learn various best practices that can be applied in village administration.

He expressed hope that the experiences gained during the program would have a tangible impact on improving public services and accelerating village development in Deli Serdang.

Learning Data-Based Village Administration Strategies

The KDMK program provides village heads with opportunities to gain knowledge about leadership in village governance, development innovations, and strategies for utilizing local resources more effectively.

A total of 14 participants from North Sumatra are taking part in the second batch of the KDMK program. They represent the districts of Deli Serdang, Humbang Hasundutan, and Pakpak Bharat.

Encouraging Local Innovations Through Village Leadership

The Deli Serdang Regency Government expects the participation of village heads in the KDMK program to improve leadership quality and administrative governance at the village level.

Through the knowledge acquired at Universitas Indonesia, village heads are expected to create various development innovations that meet community needs and reflect the characteristics of their respective regions.

The regional government also emphasized that the knowledge gained should not only serve as personal expertise for the participants but should also contribute to the formulation of policies and village development programs.

By improving the competence of village heads, the government aims to ensure that villages in Deli Serdang become increasingly adaptive, creative, and capable of providing better public services for the community.

KDMK Program Introduced During Regional Autonomy Dialogue

The "Kepala Desa Masuk Kampus" program was previously introduced by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto when he opened the Regional Autonomy Dialogue as part of the 26th anniversary celebration of the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) in Deli Serdang Regency in early July 2026.

The program is part of the government's strategy to strengthen the role of village administrations as an important element of national development.

Through improving the capabilities of village heads, the government seeks to ensure that villages can better manage available resources, develop data-based planning systems, and implement programs that directly benefit the community. (IDNC)
